THANKSGIVING WEEK AND NOVEMBER THANKFULNESS COUNTDOWN

Since our group is much larger than eight people, I keep the individual place settings simple. I use a minimal number of dishes. I like a traditional look for the table, so I used an assortment of wee white pumpkins, acorns, azalea branches, pine cones, fruit, indian corn, candles and a chalkboard that I wrote a message on.

I'm crazy busy this week, and it's my very favorite time of the year. And since it's all about the turkey, here are some of the items that will appear on our table this year.

Mr. Gobble from our village florist. When I take my walks, I gaze at the displays in the four large windows. Mr. Gobble came home with me last year, and I will always LOVE him.

This wire turkey basket was found at Walmart and will be used for  dinner rolls.

A colorful turkey relish plate handed down from my grandmother. No markings, but made in Japan.

Pine cones from the forest floor with messages.

Placemats and napkins that I found at Goodwill last year. They are originally from Williams Sonoma, and are loving their new home.

Williamsburg wine glasses that I found at the Christmas Tree Shop last year.  The etched decorative detail is a "fretwork" design. When I looked it up, it said that Virginia carpenters used variations of the design on stair balustrades and gazebos in Williamsburg's historic gardens.

November Thankfulness Countdown - I am thankful for:

*For God's love of all, and for my wonderful family and their health.

*A cozy evening at home with no TV and the most awesome peanut butter cookies with white chocolate chips!

*For the organic farm down the road that raised the turkey we will have on our table.

*My mom's Thanksgiving blessing at our table. Mom never gets through the entire blessing without shedding tears of thankfulness.  I wish you all could meet my mom...she is truly the BEST.

*Eggnog!! It's something I look forward to every year!

*Son Bryon just said how nice the house looks for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours. Thank you for stopping by!
