MACKENZIE-CHILDS BARN SALE 2012

One of the highlights of the Mackenzie-Childs Barn Sale was meeting Patti from Pandora's Box. She worked at the Barn Sale, and I am so happy we finally met!

Every July, one of my favorite destinations is the Finger Lakes where we enjoy the sights and do some shopping at the Mackenzie-Childs barn sale. Here is one of my bargain purchases from the barn sale this year. The large Flower Market Enamel Pedestal Platter is regularly $98 in the catalog, and I got it for $29.40.  It has the signature Courtly Check pedestal, and will be enjoyed at our dinner parties. Kathleen likes it when we include the price of our "bargains" :-)

On my wish list was the Carriage Lantern to use in my "Daisy Garden". It is so pretty lit up in the evening, so I'll share a photo of that next time.

Another carriage lantern is being used on a table in the entry way. The pair of lanterns will eventually be used on our front porch to welcome family and friends to our home when we host parties. They will make a great Halloween display too.

I have been wishing for the Picadilly Loaf Pan for a while, but didn't want to pay full price. The 50% off price made it more reasonable. If Patti from Pandora's Box lived a little closer, I'd bake her a loaf of my famous pecan-cinnamon chip bread and deliver it to her warm.

I also picked up some paper napkins, coasters and placemats in the Courtly Check pattern.

Courtly Check waste bin for the spare bedroom/my office. I can also use it to hold a potted mum in the fall in our foyer, or put magazines in it.

I added eight enamel rimmed dishes to my collection, so now we have 12. We have  10-12 in our dinner group so I like to have 12 of everything.

Globe Vases to be filled with flowers for some nice hostesses. I bought one for myself too, and I'm going to put a tea light in it.

Joe surprised me with this glass owl Christmas tree topper. I never even saw it for sale, and he said there were only three left so he grabbed it quickly. I love owls!!

Two Courtly Check Holly and Berries Christmas stockings.

A little secret....Mackenzie-Childs raised some of their prices at the barn sale this year. I bought my Courtly Check pedestal table (below) last year, and they've increased the barn sale price by $150 this year. Glad I bought it when I did!

One of the cute sights on our way to the barn sale.

In the gift shop, we got a sneek peek of the new Parchment enamelware.

We need rain very badly, and boy did it down pour for a short time on Sunday at the barn sale. The two bags on the bench were from our third trip to the car ;o)

Thank you for stopping by! I'm joining Let's Dish at Cuisine Kathleen's blog. She is a wonderful hostess!

  1. Oh, drool! You did well, Debbie! I have that same gold trimmed vase but in the yellow and red stripe - a present to myself 2 Christmases ago.

Love your owl tree topper! Way to go, Joe!

  2. Debbie, I had a note from Patti this morning. So happy you two got to meet up at the sale. Looks like you took home a car full of treasures. Love your choices! My husband gave me one of the owl ornaments for Christmas two years ago. I hadn't seen the tree topper. I look forward to seeing this guy atop your Christmas tree this year. ;-)

  4. Isn't it hard to put into words just how much fun this was? I was amazed at people who spent 4-5 thousands of dollars just for "themselves"....one p/t job off my retirement bucket list...the next one might be selling candy at the NYS Fair! I'll be posting all week about the "sale"! Again, so happy we met!

    1. Kathleen, the dishes can be put in the dishwasher, and I've done it. But Joe usually beats me to it and hand washes them. I don't argue with the dishwasher!

  17. How lucky of you to find a MacKenzie barn sale. I am in Utah and I saw MacKenzie store for the first time outside of Neiman Marcus and I bought a few dishes. They are very expensive. I only bought 2 place settings and they cost me over $400. Geez!...Christine

  22. Love your treasures!!! This time I only had the ceramics on my wish list. I was told that I might be overwhelmed, so make a list and stick to it! I think if I go back next year it might go easier since I know what to expect.

I love the lantern. It is so pretty! I also enjoyed seeing the shop, and I did end up buying several items there. The parchment check is gorgeous!

I enjoyed your posts on the Barn Sale!!! Maybe we can meet next year!

  25. Just curious what the table pedestal went for.. I missed the sale and am thinking of waiting until next year to purchase one as my kitchen table, however, if the deal was so-so, maybe I will just buy and have it sooner...
