~Knockoffs~ Pottery Barn American Flag Pillow and Target Napkin Rings

My mailbox is always happy when the new Pottery Barn catalog arrives. I  have to restrain myself from collecting the catalogs. Here's my Pottery Barn knockoff pillow which was inspired by the American Flag print pillow cover (photo below) seen in the PB catalog. Their pillow cover is 24" and made with linen/cotton.

I used fabric that I got at Walmart about five years ago, and used my existing outdoor pillows. I  measured, cut and pinned the fabric closed on the backside. No sewing required. I "wrapped" each pillow with the fabric like you would wrap a birthday gift, and secured it with safety pins on the middle fold and the two end folds. So easy, and I'll remove the fabric after the July Fourth holiday and store away until next year. Here are the pillows on the porch glider.

Then, while doing a little grocery shopping at Target the other day, I discovered some patriotic burlap napkin rings with red and blue trim. I took a picture, and came home and made similar napkin rings by covering cardboard strips with burlap using Elmer's glue, and then forming into a napkin ring. Once the glue dries, they get stiff. Then I glued the ribbon around the napkin ring. You can play around with it if you decide you want to make some! I was happy with the end result of my napkin rings (photo below)

These are the burlap napkin rings from Target that were the inspiration. (photo below)

  1. 'Tis the season for graduation parties! :D You have so many delightful ideas in this post, and I love what you did with the Target napkin. As much as I love PB, their prices are too high, mostly! Great copycat!

    1. The herb fest is an annual event at Cornell Cooperative Extension, and I think I have been going for 10 years. They have the best lavender ice cream sandwiches! So I bought four.
