Butterfly Garden

Each butterfly shows off a signature MacKenzie-Childs pattern (look for your favorites). I'm getting a little excited about seeing butterflies flutter in the sunlight and flitting from flower to flower. It's going to be a while, so I brought the butterflies indoors on the table.

My mom gifted me with this beautiful teapot from the new MacKenzie-Childs Butterfly Garden Enamelware collection and I bought four salad plates. I filled it with white tulips, but you can see the cute lid in the picture above. We have a special love of butterflies just like they do at Mackenzie-Child's Aurora, NY farm. Looking forward to warm summer days when we can sit in the backyard and watch the butterflies in the garden.

While we were in Walmart, mom told me about the frozen Macarons she has been buying.
They are very good and are baked and shipped by Looka Patisserie in California.

Since I wanted to serve you all a dessert that coordinated with my butterfly garden plates, I used a really cute cookbook to inspire my inner-artist that I received for a gift from my friend Pam. I was drawn to the dark brown and white striped Jaconde cake with strawberry mousse. I figured it would coordinate well with my Mackenzie-Childs dishes since the stripes were very dark in the cookbook photo. I followed the recipe exactly, and rarely have flops, but mine came out a really light brown. We loved it anyway, and I served it in jars.

I should have made my tried and tested cake with butterflies that I made last year for my sister-in-law's birthday ;o)

Thank you for stopping by! I have made so many friends through blogging, and appreciate and love your visits.

I am joining Susan at Naps Between the Porch for Tablescape Thursday, Rattlebridge Farm for Foodie Friday and A Stroll Thru Life for Inspire Me Tuesday.

  2. Love the table setting! These butterfly dishes are so cute! How did you make the butterflies on the birthday cake (are they cut-outs from paper?) Mom was sweet to give you this teapot! Happy Spring - hopefully it is now here to stay!

  5. Debbie, I am swooning over those plates and the teapot and your big Courtly Check plates too. The table is perfect and your cakes in a jar are beautiful.
That butterfly cake is fabulous - so pretty with all the butterflies all over it.
I am going to have to check out Wal Mart. Our Whole Foods has good ones too at a reasonable price.

  6. Hush up! This is SO COOL, Debbie! Each butterfly is a different MC pattern??? That is really neat! And your cake from last year...that's just bonkers! Seriously...you need to enter some kind of contest somewhere!

Who'd have thought that Walmart would have macarons???!? I'll look here in the KC area to see if they've caught on here or not. They're so pretty, and they taste wonderful. Terrific opportunity for a quick and lovely dessert.

This is my new favorite of yours! Have a great weekend!

  8. I think you may be ready for and entire MC cabinet, Debbie :) I love the butterfly teapot and the cover is so cute. Too bad about the cake not turning out like it looks in the photo but as long as it tasted good it's okay.

    1. LOL Susan! Joe enjoys Mackenzie-Childs as much and I do and he suggested a cabinet in the basement which I happily agreed to. Now it's all organized!

  10. What a fun-filled post. Enjoyed findingMC patterns in your photo of the butterfly teapot. I have been trying to work up my courage to make macaroons, but the recipes are just too daunting--I'm checking out Wal-Mart asap. Thanks for adding this wonderful post to Foodie Friday--it's great to see you!

  15. Debbie, I'm late to comment on this post because I was away from my computer last week when I first read it. You have me wanting to add some pieces of the butterfly pattern to our cupboards. Love the fact that the butterflies are the different patterns. McK-C is always coming up with something new to tempt us. The teapot is a perfect container for blooms. ;-)
Your table is delightful, and I certainly do remember that fabulous butterfly cake. Stunning!

  19. Very pretty and different! I haven't seen the butterfly MC. It seems a shame to put them in the basement, put the cabinet upstairs so all can see your collection!
