Very simply put. BEST. BEANS. EVER.
2 cups kidney beans (drained)
2 cups butter beans or Great Northern (drained)
2 cups pork and beans
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 lb. bacon, chopped
1 cup chopped onion
Combine all the beans in a bowl, stirring gently. Stir in a mixture of the catsup, brown sugar and garlic powder. Brown the bacon and onion in a skillet; drain. Add to the bean mixture and mix gently. Spoon into a two quart baking dish and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
I am joining Rattlebridge Farm for Foodie Friday.

Can't have grilling without beans. They look delicious. I'll have to try the recipe, we usually just doctor up some Heinz vegetarian beans.
ReplyDeleteThese look delicious. I am also a huge fan of beans. My sister-in-law makes something like these but with ground beef. She calls them cowboy beans.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe sounds very good, Debbie. I really like good baked beans but I have eaten some that tasted like warmed up pork and beans. I'm sure this recipe with the variety of beans and spices would be great. Will give it a try, thanks! ---------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteLovely recipe, looks delicious... =)
ReplyDeleteWe love beans, but being born and brought up in Vermont, I always use pure maple syrup in place of any sugar or molasses!
ReplyDeleteI'm going out to get the ingredients today to make this for my hubby's birthday dinner. They sound sooo good, Debbie!!
ReplyDeleteThey look good, Debbie! My recipe is pretty much the same. I add pwdered mustard, brwon sugar, and some maple syrup to what you use, and then I cook them covered at 250 all night.
ReplyDeleteNo measurements though, no matter what you do, they taste good. I am told that as I don't eat beans! :)
Debbie~ Your delicious bean recipe is similar to one my SIL makes for July 4th every year except hers also has lima beans in it! Wishing you a Happy Independence Day :)
ReplyDeleteI made the beans and they were a hit! Yum! We had the whole family over for hubby's birthday, which is actually on the 3rd. Thanks, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteThis is almost identical to my favorite bean recipe! It's my all-time favorite bean recipe and I could eat them every day :)
ReplyDeleteI just remembered that I got this recipe from you back in our GB days - LOL.
