Traveling Totes - MacKenzie-Childs Giveaway

It's the holiday season and time for indulgence. Let the festivities begin! I've lit a candle for us to enjoy with some very merry tea.

First, let me say that MacKenzie-Childs should have their own float in the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade and we could be on it singing "I am dreaming of a Checked Christmas" all while holding our totes. The Traveling Tote ladies have been busy swapping Christmas ornaments from places they have been. Emily at The French Hutch sent me a MacKenzie-Childs ornament!!! The ornament is inspired by a grand English country manse decked out for a holiday fete. It's called "Yuletide Manor Cloche" and it captures a stately scene in miniature. It's a silver-dusted tree bedecked with colorful ornaments and it is under a traditional glass dome, topped with Courtly Check ribbon.
Thank you so much Emily--I loved adding it to my MacKenzie-Childs ornament collection!
September and October were fun filled months here at Mountain Breaths. We had a bachelorette party for my niece and toured six Finger Lakes wineries. What fun that was! Jamie and Shane are a sweet couple and are getting married in February on Marco Island, FL. My niece is like a daughter to me.  In the photo below, my sister Cheryl in the pink top and Jamie holding the sign.
At the end of September, we let the good times roll and celebrated my sisterinlaw's 60th birthday with eleven family members in New Orleans. We arrived Friday afternoon for a long weekend and tried to squeeze in as much as possible including going on a swamp and bayou tour (Joe and I were pretty brave to hold a baby alligator - not so cute when it gets bigger), shopped on Magazine Street and the French Market, toured Mardi Gras World, listened to musicians at Jackson Square and celebrated Cheryl's birthday in a surprise birthday parade on Bourbon Street. You may be familiar with the wedding parades that are popular in New Orleans, and it requires a lot of planning to get the permit, hire the jazz band and hire police officers for a birthday parade. We rented a house on Burgundy Street in the French Quarter that we found on Airbnb.

In October, we pedaled these "bikes" on the New York Central Railroad in Saranac Lake. It was difficult to get a reservation, but I finally got one and IT POURED. We still had fun, and dressed for the weather. After we freshened up at the Depot, we headed to Lake Placid to have lunch at our favorite lunch spot "The Cottage" on Mirror Lake.

Ever since we got back from New Orleans, Joe has been making this Muffuletta sandwich recipe. He made it for our bachelorette winery trip and made several for his students. It's an amazing sandwich if you like olives. One of his student's told him it's the best sandwich he's ever had, and to not tell his mother he said that. LOL
I am so enjoying the friendship with my fellow Courtly Check gals. Who would have thought that a tote bag could make us a close knit group. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. What a festive post filled with my favorite CC decor. Love your cute CC tree, and the ornament from Emily is adorable. I've not seen it. Your adventures look like a fun time. How cute is that ornament, I Believe in Wine.
Happy Holidays to you and your CC girls.

  2. Debbie, your home looks spectacular all decked out in the MC checks! Your ornament from Emily is perfect amid all the other MC ornaments (and so is that I Believe in Wine santa!). All your adventures sound like a blast, even the Saranac RR trip. My husband & I always say if you have the right gear, any weather is fun, and you guys certainly had the right gear on.
Love your new little crossbody tote, and our friendship of travels, whether far or near. Happy Holidays, Debbie!

  3. I loved reading your post and immensely enjoyed your photos! You have an eye for taking just the right shot with great lighting, I envy that. The ornament you received is so very sweet, I can see it hanging on your tree for years.
This past year we enjoyed lunch at "The Cottage" for the first time and I tasted the best chicken salad I've ever had, with apricots, it was incredible!

  4. Your home looks so festive, Debbie, all decked out in CC style. Your ornament from Emily is perfect to add to your collection. I also enjoyed traveling along with you to all your fun Fall trips. Now I'm ready to taste Joe's muffuletta sandwich! Yum!!

  5. Happy Holidays, Debbie! I come to you via Rita, partly to enter the drawing, partly to see what you Mackenzie Childs travelers have been up to! And it all looks wonderful, as does that opening holiday photo! (And Emily made a wonderful choice for your swap!)

Have a lovely week and thanks for hosting the drawing! -- jeanie from Marmelade Gypsy.

  8. Hi Deb, I am in love with your MacKenzie-Childs tree, just adorable. Wow, don't you just love NOLA, such a great place for everything! And, it seems you and Joe found a lot of fun and food to enjoy. And who knew, wedding parades! I always love turning wineries, enjoyed touring with you Deb. Happy December...........

  9. What a lovely home, it screams Holiday festivities !! I love all your MC ornaments and things. I made some DIY to resemble it a couple of months ago, but I'd love to have at least one of the real thing, lol..
Great trips and amazing time as well !
Happy Christmas holidays for you and your dear ones.

  10. Love your blog! Nothing says Merry Christmas like a MacKenzie Childs' decorated tree! The adorable snowy white acorn is a great addition to the tree...loved the alligator !!!

  11. Your tree looks great Debbie-Happy December:@)

  12. Debbie, I would love to take a trip on one of those rail cars and my husband would be thrilled!! This is absolutely going on our list for next summer!!! Not so thrilled about holding an alligator, though, even if he is kind of cute! I draw the line at anything reptilian even if they have legs. I've only been to NO once and I was pregnant, but still enjoyed it and would love to go back and take part in a parade. I'm sure your SIL must have been thrilled! And congrats to your pretty niece. I love seeing your bag hanging on the jester! And your mantle is sooo beautiful. Your tree with all the MC ornaments, and now the new one, must be gorgeous. Have a great day! Linda

  13. Your pictures are beautiful! I just love Lake Placid and it looks like you had a great time! Thank you for sharing your adventures and thank you for the chance to win a beautiful Mackenzie Childs acorn!

  14. I love your posts! This one is wonderful with so many fun things included. Love the peddle rail car! Bummer it was raining. Your tree is beautiful and the new ornament is amazing. I'd love that acorn for our tree! thanks for the chance. hugs, marlis

  15. hi Debbie, I always think of you as the MK Queen! You have so made of their wonderful and incredible things! I too love anything MK, and even put a tote on my wish list to Santa this year :) Your trip to the winery sounded like a great way to celebrate an upcoming wedding-my niece got married at a vineyard with her reception at the winery in the mountains above Santa Barbara, CA, and it was one of the best weddings! Love NOLA, and muffalettas, that too sounded like a grand time. I think your ornament exchange is such a fun idea, and I would most definitely love to hang that adorable acorn on my tree! Thanks for all the traveling tote fun!

  16. Your group sounds like it's so fun! Yes, who knew a MacKenzie-Childs bag could create so much fun and closeness. I love your tree, and the prize of an acorn ornament sounds wonderful. Thank you for the opportunity to win! rush88888 at gmail dot com

  17. I agree about the parade and you should be in it to. The high school band from our little village was in the parade this year! You do such fun things, Debbie, and your traveling tote group sounds like so much fun. My goodness, Joe's sandwich looks delicious. You know I would love to win the ornament :)

  18. Such a fun peddling expedition. I have never heard of anything like that! I want a MC tote, and I want to tote along! The ornament is beautiful and the tree covered with MC is just fantastic!

  19. Debbie, you really know how to have fun! I think I would love to pedal down a train track! As for a question you posed. We go to the Poinsettia tour every year. It is so fun to be surrounded by such a riot of color. Have a wonderful Christmas!
