I had this recipe lined up and was waiting for the cucumber harvest. We love pickles and were excited to try these from a blog I have been following for over 10 years. Lynn has tried and tested recipes, and I was interested in making a refrigerator pickle. The author writes that these keep for months in the fridge, if they last that long. We are certainly enjoying this summer treat!
Mamaw's Refrigerator Bread and Butter Pickles
7 C sliced, unpeeled cucumbers
1 C sliced onion
1 C sliced green peppers
1 C cider vinegar
2 C sugar
1 Tblsp celery seed
1 Tblsp salt
Mix everything together cold and store covered in fridge. Let sit for 5 days so flavors can mingle.
Thanks for stopping by!

I love B&B pickles! My sister makes them every year, though without green peppers. I eat them on peanut butter sandwiches!

ReplyDeleteThis is very similar to my mother's recipe but she didn't use green peppers. I almost have enough cukes from my plants to make a batch! I love how easy and delicious they are.
