The 12 Days of Christmas

Wishing everyone a peaceful holiday season. I have never hosted Christmas dinner as we always went to mom's church for Christmas Eve, then to dear friends' home for a buffet dinner, and then to mom's house for Christmas Day. I host Thanksgiving and Easter for my family, and I have a couple sets of fun Christmas dishes that I use for Christmas morning breakfast, or when I host friends for a holiday gathering. Not this year, but I decided to have some fun with the plates anyways. Next year, each guest will bring a small gift to exchange with the 12 days of Christmas as the theme. I struggled with Lords a Leaping, and if I lived in NYC, I would have purchased a Lord and Taylor gift card :-) Joe came to my rescue. Read on.....

With all the quarantines

and distancing orders . . .

we can still set pretty tables, and drive through

neighborhoods and enjoy the bright

and happy cheer of Christmas. This was my favorite tree on our drive last evening. My sister would like to do something similar next year, and I told her we can start in October :-)

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. What a lovely table and that lit tree is amazing!

  2. Very fun! Tell Joe he did well. In fact, all of the interpretations are quite creative!

  3. Very creative!!!Love those plates Geena!!

  4. Very creative, Debbie (and Joe!) I'm forwarding your post to my niece now that she has the plates. I also delivered my sets of nutcracker plates w/ napkins to her yesterday. I know she will have fun creating tables and hosting parties. She and her young friends love to do just that. As soon as it is safe again, let the parties begin!

    1. I know your niece will have fun creating tables and hosting parties just like we do! Let the parties begin as soon as it's safe.

  5. How clever you were with the theme, Debbie, and Joe did great, too! Ooooh and that tree! That certainly is a magical sight to behold. I’ll look forward to seeing your sister’s creation, with your help, next year! 🎄❤️🎄

  6. What a darling table, so clever too Deb. I am sure this was fun to put together. I'm glad you see the positive this year, not what we can't do, bravo! Your table and dining room look so festive. Good to enjoy the season, whatever we are doing (same here).

  7. Color me j-e-a-l-u-o-s!!!!!!!!! You thought of EVERYTHING! Hats off to your husband for the Lord a'Leaping coup! The ladies' dancing shoes...VERY clever! And the Dove bar!!!!!! But the most ingenious of all: the piping!!!!!!!!! NEVER in my life would I have thought of that!!!!

I love your can do attitude toward this whole thing! I've adopted it, too. I have a lot to catch up on anyway, and they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I know I will never again take for granted eating French fries HOT AT THE RESTAURANT again!!! I bought a whole wardrobe (about 30) of masks to go with little outfits for when I have to venture out, and that makes it more palatable. (My husband has to wear a surgical mask daily with patients, so I now have a taste of his world!) I look forward to the day when we can set our lower faces free and eat out again, but until that time arrives...making the best of what the good Lord provides!

This is an AMAZING tablescape, and I bow to your creativity!

    Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Such a cute idea Deb!! What a fabulous fun party this will be next year, I just love this idea!!

  9. Oh wow, this table is stunning ! I love each plate of your stack... beautiful ! You are very creative and talented my friend.
I have looked at many positive things that came with this very "unusual" year. I sometimes think I've been in the "Twilight Zone." My husband and I were treated with COVID-19 back in June and part of July. We came out fine by the Grace of God.

  10. What a creative table and Joe came up with some great ideas! Can't wait to see what your guests come up with next year :) Merry Christmas to you and Joe, Debbie! ♥

  11. Beautiful Debbie. The plates are such a Collector item. I love how you have celebrated the twelve days of Christmas. Positive attitudes go a long way. Wishing you and Joe a very Merry Christmas. 😘

  12. I've seen a lot of positive things come with this "extremely unusual" year. I sometimes think I've been in the "twilight zone". Deb such a beautiful idea !! What a wonderful party this will be next year, I just like the idea. I wish you could approach this whole thing! I have adopted it too. I have a lot to catch up with anyway, and they say that absence makes the heart more loving. I'm sure it was fun together. I'm glad you see positive this year, not something we can't do, Bravo! Your dining room and dining room look very festive.
