Mr. Mountain Breaths and I were married on Valentine's Day. Everyone say Awwww :-) It is one of my favorite days of the year. I am drawn to hearts, so when I came upon this business in Old Forge, NY decorated for Valentine's Day, I had to stop and take a picture. Cute, cute ;o)
The Mr. and I plan to have a quiet dinner at home this weekend for our anniversary. I haven't finalized the menu, but I do know that oysters will be on the appetizer menu. His very favorite :o) And he is charge of opening the oysters with his special oyster knife. (It's quite a chore to open oysters so I don't touch them)
Our front door is adorned with a wreath that my sister made for us this year. I love it.
Now this is where I come in....choosing the tablescape. I am joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
I went for a stroll around our basement where I have several of those silver racks from BJ's. Our contractor took one look in the basement and asked my husband if we owned a catering business.
I told my husband to tell him that if we owned a catering business, I would have a lot more!
I chose a vintage square tablecloth from my great-grandmother's collection. Then I started pulling colors from my cloth into the tablescape for our kitchen island where we will be dining. Mr. Mountain Breath's favorite dessert is New York style cheesecake, so I included my dessert plates from Oneida. It looks like I will be having a cupcake ;o) And the lighting will be better, but you get the idea.

And since Laurie is hosting a Valentine's party, she has decorated her home with TONS of the hearts. I would need a bigger home to display all those hearts! I hope you will pop on over to visit Laurie. She has put a lot of effort into her party!
To set the mood for romance, here's an easy recipe that I found for our anniversary cocktail. It's called "The French 79" and they serve it at the Candle Cafe in New York City. I have all the ingredients so I'll be serving this on Saturday.
Instructions for the "The French 79":
Shake 6 ounces organic sake over ice with 2 oz apricot puree, a dash of fresh lemon juice, and 1 oz of agave nectar.
Strain into 2 champagne flutes. Slowly pour 1 teaspoon of creme de cassis into each glass. Top slowly with organic champagne or sparkling wine.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I appreciate all your comments!
