Sunday Favorites #5

"Sunday Favorites" is a Sunday meme designed by Chari @ Happy To Design to give bloggers a chance to share a favorite post from the past. Thanks for stopping by!

Originally posted December 2008

The instructions called for Jumbo olives for the body, and small olives for the head. Since I was just practicing, I used large olives for both the body and the head. Mary showed us how she made hers a while back, and perhaps the little fellas are listed on her blog.

All you need for this is jumbo olives, small olives, carrots and cream cheese. Cut a slit from top to bottom on the jumbo olive, and carefully insert about a teaspoon of creme cheese. Slice the carrot into 1/4" thick rounds, cut a small notch to form feet. Save the cut out piece for the beak and press into the small olive (the head). Secure with a toothpick. Give it a try....they are FUN! I plan on using them on my veggie platter and might also try a flavored cream cheese.

Thankyou for stopping by today!

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. Cute, cute, cute.... I love these. Yours turned out beautifully, Debbie.

You did a great job of stuffing the cream cheese inside.

  2. Hi Debbie, these are so cute.

    Happy Sunday Favorites.

  3. these are so cute and creative!

  4. Hi Debbie...

My friend, I'm so glad that you joined in with the fun of Sunday Favorites this week!

What a darling perfect to reshare with all of us as these little olive penguins are charming!!! I'm thinking right now how much all of my grandkids would just go nuts over these cute little guys...they all love olives! They do the thing of putting one on each finger and eating them off...hehe!!! Shhheeshhh...table manners! My kids would have never gotten by with such crude behavior...hehe!!! But then it's an entirely different story when it comes to grandchildren! Hehe!!! Anyway...I will definitely be trying these cute little guys out!!! Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us!!!

I hope that you're having a blessed and safe Memorial Day weekend, my friend!

  5. Adorable, and I even like them with "big" heads.

  6. Debbie - your penguins turned out so cute..some of the best I have seen.

I have seen these on quite a few blogs, seems they originated in Europe and are making their way here!!

  7. Love your penguins, Debbie! Definitely a favorite :)

  8. These are just too cute! Send me one! lol looks like a lot of work! But worth it they are so darling!

  9. Oh, my gosh, these are so cute! I am always amazed at the things people make and then let people EAT!
If I had gone to all the trouble to make those, I'd SMACK anyone who tried to eat one!

  10. Your penguins are such cuties. I do love your take on them. They are worthy of being seen again on your blog!

  11. It is nice getting home from a long weekend at our camp to find your sweet comments. I appreciate them all!

  12. cute little guys to revist in your Sunday favorites! I have yet to try them.
