Joe and I had a dinner party on Saturday.

I love planning dinner parties!

Half the FUN is in the planning. It REALLY is.

And when the door bell finally rings after weeks of planning, I love to WELCOME our friends into our home.

As I was planning our dinner, it occurred to me that when I was much younger, I didn’t always make a list when planning a dinner party. I recall one dinner in particular where I was a little overwhelmed because I didn't leave myself enough time to prepare. As I scanned the list, there was a note from Joe that said HAVE FUN. I will never forget that note, and it totally changed my attitude.

I'm going to compile my tips for a well organized dinner party so that you will feel ready and have FUN! That will be in my next post.

While I was planning our dinner, I looked on the internet for ways to decorate. Even though I didn't use any of the ideas I found, I feel they are worth sharing.

How about this poster backdrop, with feather wreaths from Apartment Therapy ?

This photo I found from Shelleybdecorandmore and loved the witch legs!

Lastly, who says you have to stick the traditional black, white and orange?

Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween!

You wouldn't believe
On All Hallow Eve
What lots of fun we can make,
With apples to bob,
And nuts on the hob,
And a ring-and-thimble cake.

  5. I can't wait to hear more about your party and your tips for organizing. The photos you shared are gorgeous, especially the lime green/black one (my fav). You are pretty cute in the skirt & shoes too :)

  6. Cute post, Debbie! I love planning dinner parties too, and even though I plan ahead, I still get a little stressed out.

Great ideas and I love your skirt and boots! Nice looking group of friends ;)

  7. What a great party that must have been! You certainly were well dressed for the occasion with those pointy toe boots and gorgeous spider skirt. What any fashionable hostess would want to wear! I'm sure your friends had a wonderful time. ---------Shannon

  8. Can't wait to see the party and what you served.
Yes, advance preparation is the key. Do as much in advance as you can, plan out the buffet table, label where each thing goes. No waiting till the last minute to decide or it will be stressful!
I am sure you had it all under control.
Fail to plan, plan to fail! :)

I'm so happy you decided to stop by my blog. Please leave a comment as I enjoy hearing from each and every one of you!
