If I could have only one flower, it would be easy for me to choose. It would be the beloved sunflower. They truly make my heart go pitter patter. of us.
When I drive by a field of sunflowers, I reflect on their beauty. The sunflower plates were purchased at Wegman's a while back. I picked up the Courtly Check placemats at the MKC barn sale. In August, when the sunflowers are in bloom, they are my go to plates because I always have sunflowers in a vase.
Start with Vanilla ice cream. Store bought is fine. I swirled the ice cream with crunchy peanut butter and spread it on thin fudgy brownies. Top it with another brownie, and then freeze.
To make the brownies, I used a boxed fudge brownie mix and followed the instructions on the box.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment, spray with Pam, and pour brownie mixture onto cookie sheet.
Bake for about 15 minutes and let cool. Cut into 4" squares, and remove using a spatula. Spread your ice cream mixture onto a brownie square and top with another brownie. Repeat until all sandwiches are complete and freeze. (I used freezer wrap)
This is a nice dessert to have on hand for summer visitors.
I served with whipped cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. You can sprinkle crushed peanuts on the whipped cream if desired.

Beautiful! Love sunflowers...it is almost time here to go along the back roads gathering them...
ReplyDeleteThe MC vase is gorgeous.
Debbie,
ReplyDeleteYou are totally after my heart and my "weak" spot with this tablescape ~ I L O V E Sunflowers! Being from Kansas just makes my affection for them so much better! In addition, "Mr. Ed" grows Sunflowers here on my side of the Praire for our viewing and to feed the birds that frequent our feeders! Thank you for this gorgeous tablescape!
Fondly,
Pat
Debbie, Happy Birthday a day late!!! I love your sunflower table. My, everything goes so well with your Courtly Check! Those brownies look simply scrumptious. You and Kathleen are both tempting me with your wonderful desserts! YUM.
ReplyDeletedrool, drool, drool.....we passed a huge sunflower field on our way home from M-C Barn Sale - just so bright and cheery! Table looks superb and those brownies look delsih!
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteYou are so fortunate to have a lovely place for two to dine. The sunflowers and MK vase are gorgeous together. Beautiful square plates and perfect for a summer tablescape. The ice cream is so enticing. The Blue Bunny has a Sweet Freedom brand ice cream with half the fat and every flavor has been so delicious. My husband needs low carb so this is our solution. I used fresh fruit with the banana split flavor!
Thanks, Pam
Very fun table! Those dishes are beautiful, and I think sunflowers are such happy flowers!
ReplyDeleteHello Debbie, your table setting is about the prettiest thing I've seen in a very long time, and that dessert, oh my! I love the fact that it is a do ahead dessert. It is always so nice when you have guests coming . . . to have some great dishes that you can have done a day or two ahead.

ReplyDeleteDebbie, I too love sunflowers, and yours are just gorgeous. I have been known to pick ones off the roadside and bring them in to a vase. I love those square sunflower plates, and of course a brownie ice cream dessert would always be a hit at my home. Joni

Your table goes perfectly with our current weather: sunshiny, a mix of warm and cool, and relaxing! Sunflowers are so great, and they just turn any room into a happy place! I really like the way you paired the sunflower plates with the black & white checkered ones. VERY cool!!!! Enjoy your weekend, darlin'!

I don't know which I like best...your table setting or the dessert. Nice!

ReplyDeleteSunflowers and black and white checks are just made for each other. The pops of green set everything off so nicely. This has such a happy feel to it.
ReplyDeleteLove your table, the plates are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDessert looks good too!
I can't pick a favorite flower, I love so many of them! The same with ice cream!
Thanks for linking to Let's Dish!
Beautiful ttablescape. Lovely sunflower plates and so pretty paired with the checked chargers. Your ice cream dessert looks so yummy too...Christine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful plates! The ice cream looks delicious, great flavors.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow those ice cream sandwiches sound so good. I'm not sure how I got started with it, but ever since I was younger I have loved swirling a spoon of peanut butter into my ice cream. And then add in Brownies which are a major weakness of mine and I think you may have found perfection! I may just have to make a mini version of this since I believe I have some cooked brownies in the freezer and I know I have the ice cream and peanutbutter! Your table setting is absolutely gorgeous. I love your plates. I wish I had the "dishing" knack like you and Kathleen. Thanks for coming to the Social again this year! Maybe next year I will get off my duff a little sooner and promote it a bit more so we have a better turnout. Still great stuff though!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm...sounds so delicious. I'm sure that there are many variations on the theme, too. Your place settings are charming and so like August with the sunflower bouquet.
ReplyDeleteWould have never thought of swirling pb into ice cream..these look so good!!
ReplyDeleteOh my,those sound so good! Now I'm hungry!
