It is called Saturday Salsa, because I make it on Saturdays at our camp. I have three favorite salsa recipes, and this one is the easiest and people enjoy it.
Recipe:
1 onion chopped
1 green pepper chopped
4 gloves garlic, minced
1 TB sugar
1 can diced tomatoes (I use Wegman's brand petite diced)
DRAIN THE TOMATOES
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 lime, juiced
2 TB tomato paste
Salt and Pepper to taste
Mix well and let sit for at least three hours. I serve the salsa in individual bowls because I don't like reaching across the table to a big bowl to dip my chips ;o)
This is the view from our front door at our camp. I love seeing the moon early in the morning.
Dining under the pines.
There are many lakes, ponds and rivers to canoe, kayak or boat on.
An abundance of wildlife.
The little beach on our motorless lake.
The only "alarm" clock we need is the sound of the loon in the morning. A happy wake up call.
When the sun does down, we enjoy the campfire and S'more Time.
Fishing is a favorite activity.

Antique snowshoes for decor. And speaking of cabin decor, I love this post at The Polo House blog -
If I Had A Cabin

Mr. Mountain Breaths made these awesome shutters.

A gathering of pines, ferns, leaves and wildflowers.
I'm not sure what made their home in this teeny tiny 4" bird house on the rustic fence.
I am joining Seasonal Sunday at the Tablescaper. Thanks for stopping by!

The salsa looks so good. Love the idea of smaller serving dishes! great job on the shutters, they're beautiful, love the views!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, it looks like paradise. I could certainly relax in this beautiful environment. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou would be able to read plenty of books Sarah. It's very peaceful.
DeleteSOOOO happy you had such a fun weekend up here, Debbie--hopefully, next time we can actually meet! Love the salsa recipe...will make it, and soon! thanks!
ReplyDeleteLeslie, we will definitely meet soon! Enjoy your trip to CA.
DeleteThe salsa looks perfect in the individual portions. However, about those up North views, Debbie.....what beauty you are able to enjoy!! Thanks for letting me live vicariously and take a peek into your camp. Those shutters are PERFECT. I want to see more!! ;-).
ReplyDeleteI could just hide away there and while my life away.. It absolutely looks like a slice of heaven. I love the idea of individual cups for the salsa.. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteThank you Marlis. The little cups work well and I would recommend the long skinny chips so you can all the way to the bottom. You'll want to eat every bit of it :-)
DeleteDebbie, your salsa looks delicious. I think anything would be satisfying served in that beautiful place. It is understandable why you enjoy spending time there.---------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteThank you Shannon. It is so relaxing here :-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful spot - what lake is this? And you even have lovely dishes at camp? Salsa sounds tasty (mine is similar, except I use roma tomatoes) Will have to try your recipe!
ReplyDeletePatti, we are at Okara Lakes in the Adirondack region of New York. I planted Roma plum tomatoes so will try it with fresh and compare.
DeleteLooks like paradise, everything is so green! We have multiple shades of brown in our area...can't wait for winter snow to cover it.
ReplyDeleteWe love salsa, too...do you drain the tomatoes?
Yes, the tomatoes must be drained. I will go back and add that to the recipe. Thanks for catching that.
DeleteAbsolutely stunning Debbie! What a fun place and the views are fabulous. I adore the shutters. How wonderful that he made them. Your idea about serving the salsa is so inspiring. I usually just set out little plain ramekins, but your containers really take it up a notch. It looks and sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the little escape! It is such a lovely way of life! I pinned the smores jars - I never thought of displaying them like that!
ReplyDeleteLove your presentation: the salsa in the little glass containers and the labels on the smore mak'ins. So neat.
ReplyDeleteGood to have you with us at Seasonal Sundays.

I've been looking for a salsa recipe, I'll give yours a try. Love all your photos, especially the wildlife! I love s'mores, but I make mine with saltines:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to serve the salsa in individual dishes! I have fresh tomatoes coming in fast and furious and I think I'll try your salsa with them.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Mountain Breath views, Debbie! How are the mosquitos there? We're having an unusually pleasant mosquito-free summer due to the drought.
