Paperwhites for Winter Charm

You're probably familiar with the pretty white flowers that are strongly fragrant, and forced to flower at Christmas. Paperwhites are part of the Narcissus genus which includes plants known as daffodils. I started the bulbs in November by putting stones in the bottom of mason jars and setting the bulbs on top. I kept the water level at the top of the stones. You can see those nice roots!

My inspiration came from Stone Gable, and I am delivering them to friends this week so they can enjoy some winter charm.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. We are two peas in a pod, Debbie! I did the exact same thing after seeing Yvonne's. I gave them away in the same jars with ribbon around them. It was my first time growing paperwhites. Next year, I'm growing more!!

  2. Very pretty! What a beautiful gift!
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Debbie.

  3. Debbie, this is a wonderful gift. I lost a friend to cancer about 15 years ago now, and she would give paper whites at Christmas. At her service, we had a basket of paper white bulbs for every one to take to plant in her memory. Your post brought back some sweet memories. Thank you.........Sarah

  4. What a beautiful gift for Christmas. They look so pretty, and they really do have amazing roots. Joni

  5. I always pick up a bunch at CTS to do for gifts. So pretty, Debbie!

  6. Always a welcome gift! Merry Christmas:@)

  7. What a wonderful and thoughtful gift and they know you planned ahead to get them these beautiful blooms. I just love your whole presentation.

  8. Hi Debbie...Thanks for your Christmas visit!
