We have a Mr.& Mrs. Cardinal that visit us several times daily at the feeder.
A table has been moved near the fireplace so we can be toasty warm while we eat.
I had to remove a photo of the cardinals I posted several years ago due to an issue with several people claiming the photo was "theirs". I gave credit to the person I thought owned the photo, but wasn't successful I guess.

January and February are our months to relax and unwind. Wool cozies made from a re-purposed wool sweater warm the mugs. I'll pour some tea and Joe will have cappuccino.

The cardinal plates have been in my collection for a few years and were found at the Olde Wicker Mill on clearance. Doesn't Mr. Cardinal look handsome on those plaid dinner plates? The white wooden chargers are from Pier One.
The plaid plates were on sale at Pottery Barn in New York City after Christmas. Since I had a $20 voucher to use, it ended up costing me less than $20 for the six plates.
Birch candles and candle holders are from Pottery Barn, plaid napkins from Crate and Barrel a few years ago, and the knit napkin rings were re-purposed from a wool sweater.
Doesn't the cardinal look warm perched on the wool napkin rings? I'll be putting some wool scraps from the re-purposed sweater project outdoors in the spring so the birds can use it for nesting material.
Thank you for stopping by!
Wow, that's a lot of birds in the first pic-really neat! Your table is very pretty, the cardinal plates look great with the plaid-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I absolutely love this post. Cardinals are my favorite birds, and that photo is amazing. We have two cardinal couples who live in our back garden, and I get so much enjoyment out of watching them! Your tablescape is so cute. Love the plaid plates and the mug cozies!

I adore cardinals. We are blessed to have several families that live in our backyard each year. My favorite element is the knit sweater napkin ring...such a great idea! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteGREAT deal on those PB plates, Debbie!!!! Aw, man....those are so cool! They work perfectly with your cardinal salad plates. They both have a wintry feel without looking like Christmas unless you want them to. You picked some great pieces to round out your setting. The sweater mug cozies are darling, and the "log" candles really are a nice touch. Way to go, lady! I'm still on break. Have a great week!!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, your cardinal theme table is adorable. And those cute mug cozies are a clever idea. Amazing photo of the cardinals in the tree. I've never seen but one cardinal at a time. In fact, saw one on my walk this morning. He had flitted into a low shrub. His bright red feathers glistening against the leaves.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table! I love cardinals, love plaids, love white with plaids, so it's perfect in my book!! And those cozies....too cute! ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteWhat a cozy table by the fire! Love the cardinals - dishes and napkin rings! I've never seen mug cozies - only those for teapots - what a great idea and yours look so cute! Wish I would find a deal like you did at Pier 1!

Hi Debbie, I am in love with your table. I have those wood chargers too and I use them ALL the time! The PB plates were on sale at our PB too but all were damaged -- maybe next year! I look for our cardinals everyday. We have two pair. I love the idea of the wool cozies for the tea cups! I do not like cold tea! Linda
ReplyDeleteSuch a delightful table table. The cardinals are wonderful. I see we have the same chargers. Your plates are so pretty. The cozies are so sweet! The napkins rings are perfect. Love it all.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I did notice we have the same chargers. They seem to be very popular in blogland. I went back to Pier One to get more last year, so I think I have 12 now.
DeleteHi Debbie, I love your cardinal photo. We do not have them in our area. I grew up in Northern, Indiana and they are plentiful there. I love how you mixed the red plaid with the black and white checks and prints, and your dishes are amazing. You set a very pretty table.
ReplyDeleteIn regard to the question you left on my post:
I know that everybody has a special technique and that they use many different products, but wait until you hear how complicated it was to get this photo onto my page. Are you ready for this.? It was a photo that I took in Las Vegas just outside the Paris casino, so I had it stored on my computer in my picture files. So, all I did was print in on regular computer paper, cut it out with scissors and glue it onto the page with a glue stick. I know you're thinking . . . what? . . . yep, that is all that I did,LOL.
Now, I have heard of this method where you print your photo in mirror image onto regular printer paper and then use lemon Pine-soil cleaner to brush over it and transpose the image to the page. I haven't tried it , but I bought some Pine-soil the other day, to try. You turn the image upside down so that the ink side is down and brush the pine-soil over the back. Wait a minute or so and peel it away.
Good luck . . . I'm curious now and off to give it a try.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
Connie, I would have never guessed that you cut out the photo with scissors and glued it onto the page! You have inspired me to get our my journal, and start doodling and cutting ;o)
DeleteHi Debbie, I'm back . . . well I tried the Pine-sol and I wasn't happy with it. It ended up taking about 10 minutes, but not with very good results. If you come across a method that works well, I would love to hear about it. Sometimes you want to layer in a more sophisticated way than, cut and glue, LOL. I know that there is a way.
ReplyDeletesorry that i could not help more.
Your blogging sister, Connie
Thanks for letting me know. I won't run to the store to buy the Pine-sol!
DeleteWhat a cozy way to enjoy a meal...love all your Cardinals..and that photo of them all in a tree is amazing...we just do not get them up here where we live...would soooo love to see some.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comment you shared about my book....happy weekend...stay cozy.
Hi Koralee,
DeleteLooking forward to your book!
Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteThis is a CHARMING winter table for two -- for starters because it's placed right in front of the fireplace. :) I love everything you've used on this table. I seem to be obsessed with tartan plaids at the moment. I think I've loved them for years, and now they're popular and I'm finding them everywhere. I love your tartan plates (I saw those at PB) and the tartan napkins with the darling wool napkin rings and cardinals. I missed seeing the cardinal plates at Pottery Barn; you made a great purchase with those. Last, but not least, those wool cozies for your coffee/tea mugs are soooo cute!! What a clever idea!
I hope you have a great weekend. We have ice and very cold temps here in North Carolina.
Denise
Beautiful,Debbie! I love the cardinals paired with the plaid, and your wooly accoutrements are so cozy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the challenge at Let's Dish!
Debbie, this post was on your sidebar tonight, so I popped back over. Amazing shot of the cardinals in the tree. My sister has had lots of cardinals in her trees in recent weeks. A friend says they are our loves in heaven come down to visit. I like that thought!
ReplyDeleteHow do you make the mug cozies and the napkin rings from sweaters?

The online deal might be less expensive yet you ought to be quick to discover how the transportation is done since it might either be figured in the cost of your buy, it very well may be free inside your country or it very well might be paid by you after the acquisition of the dining room furniture.
