My sister-in-law Tammy was our guest of honor this weekend. She lives in New York City, and recently received her R.N. degree so we invited her to the "country" to celebrate. I ordered sheets of wafer paper butterflies from Fancy Flours to decorate her cake. Before I cut out the butterflies, I spread a thin layer of clear piping gel over each butterfly. The piping gel prevents the wafer paper from cracking while cutting. The butterflies will not deteriorate or spoil, so I prepped them three days before placing them on the cake. I used small craft scissors to cut out the butterflies once the piping gel had dried overnight. I gently folded the butterflies and affixed to the small cake.
The cake was served on the Mackenzie-Childs Flower Market Enamel Pedestal Platter. It looks like a lush English garden in the peak of summer.
Here is yours truly doing some weeding in the garden before Tammy arrived. I don't know about you, but I get really motivated when I have company ;o)
I am joining these hostesses this week.
Marty at A Stroll Through Life for Inspire Me Tuesday
Cuisine Kathleen for Let's Dish
Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday
Rattlebridge Farm for Foodie Friday (I was inspired by their butterfly cake)
Thank you for stopping by! Wishing you a wonderful week.
