Preparing for the Holidays..The Traveling Tote

It's party season and time for indulgence. Let the festivities begin! I've lit a candle for us to enjoy some very merry tea.

Let's sit by the fire and invite our favorite imaginery friend to our merry tea and enjoy some dark chocolate covered Peppermint Joe Joe's from Trader Joe's. If you've never had these, you MUST try them. I could eat the entire package. They are only available at Christmas time.
Miss Bella and I visited a Gingerbread Village at our local casino that was recognized last year by Forbes Travel Guide as one of the nine best gingerbread villages in the country. The smell alone is worth the visit!
Towering buildings, a train depot with an actual moving train and constructed from more than 600 pounds of gingerbread dough. And 2,500 Elf Hours :-)

Back home after filling the cart to the brim at Wegman's and Trader Joes. Each year, I put together themed gift baskets for my family and this year's theme is Under The Tuscan Sun. I found pasta at Trader Joe's that was two feet long! I had to get it ;o)
Trader Joe's had the nicest greens bouquet for 4.99 so it hopped into my tote. Joe and Miss Aurora commented they are the nicest greens for the price.  I've been wanting to try Flat White at Starbucks so I treated myself. Have you tried it?  It has ristretto shots of espresso with steamed milk and is not too strong -- just right. I added spices to mine and loved it.
I took the photo below while munching on dark chocolate covered Peppermint Joe Joe's from Trader Joe's. Oh my!!

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I strolled through one of our local shopping areas to see what I could put into my tote. I love the cork garland they made for the wine bar, and the cheese store was filled with local yummies.

Rejoice in the magic of the merriest season!

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. Debbie, I've never tied Peppermint Joe Joes but I'm headed there today so I'll see if they still have some! The idea of sitting in front of your pretty mantel and munching chocolates sounds wonderful. That gingerbread village is amazing. We go to one every year but it is nothing like this!!!! I would just love to see it. I'll have to put it on my list! Enjoy the rest of the prep time before Christmas. It looks like you are ready. I would love to see what else you add to the Tuscan Sun gift baskets! Linda

  2. Very cute..I do love the pearls on your mantel too..I bet I would have loved seeing all those gingerbread houses..who wouldn't in fact?

GReat decors and you look lovely..PS You know where to get corks:)

  3. Debbie, your mantel/fireplace area is adorable - so many CC goodies there, I'll try not to be envious (but I am). Sounds like Peppermint Joe Joe's only being available for a limited time is a good thing, hehe. That's pretty much how I feel about all the food and frolic of the season. Your adventures were definitely fun stops - thanks for taking us along. Cheers to more adventures in 2016!

  4. I need to get to the casino, as our local gingerbread houses were not nearly that stunning!! The photos are beautiful. Your living room is decorated to perfection and looks so inviting! I am wishing you and Joe a happy holiday season and a bright new year!!

  5. I see Our holiday decorating has a lot in common this Year.I love the black and white with a splash of color and the buffalo checks : ) Enjoyed this post. May You be blessed this Christmas and through the new Year-Denise

  6. Debbie, I want to snuggle up in that cozy room by your beautifully decorated fireplace. Gorgeous!!!
The gingerbread houses are incredible. Can you imagine the time and talent it takes to create these? Thanks for sharing. I'm going to create a special Pinterest board just for gingerbread houses.
Merry Christmas, my friend. Looking festive with Miss Aurora!

  7. Your whole fireplace setting looks great Debbie! The nutcrackers are perfect and I love the wine cork addition to the garland-Merry Christmas:@)

  8. Thanks for having me over for your special tea in from to your gorgeous fireplace, Debbie! I certainly enjoyed touring along with you to see the fabulous gingerbread houses (I even sniffed trying to get the scent...LOL!!). I love the idea of themed baskets for your family members. Thanks for the inspiration. Now all I can think of is the chocolate peppermint Joe Joe's. Can you guess where I'll be headed later today? I'll call first to see if they have any left. I enjoyed coming along with you and touring some of your favorite places. xo

  9. Love the fireplace, all decked out with MKC. I would feel so special sitting there and enjoying some hot cocoa and peppermints. The wine cork garland is clever. Thanks for sharing this lovely tour. I would love to see those gingerbread houses in person. Merry Christmas. xo

  10. Your home looks so festive, Debbie! I love the cork strand in the swag :) Your tote is loaded with such pretty gifts. The gingerbread house display is amazing! I hope you have a wonderful visit to NYC. Merry Christmas, Debbie!
