This summer, I wanted to invite you into our family's camp. We are on a small lake in the Adirondacks in New York and it's where we recharge. Camp is filled with family, friends and lots of good food! We believe we have a little slice of Heaven on Earth. We sit around the campfire and talk about life. Even though we have had 36 people sleep at our camp when all the children were little, it is best with 6-8. We have three beds and a couch. There is very little privacy...lol.
Just a little history on where our camp is located. Okara Lakes is in the Old Forge region of the Adirondack Mountains. Our backyard woods is designated "forever wild". Great visionaries such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Thoreau have drawn inspiration from the Adirondack Mountains. I'm sure you've heard of the Adirondack Chair. There is a lot to love in the Adirondacks. The Adirondack Park is larger than Yosemite, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon combined.
I hope you are having a wonderful summer! Thank you for your positive comments on my new blog design.
xoxo Debbie
Deb, It's SO beautiful there, and I can totally relate to your enjoyment of it as I grew up with a similar camp at a lake in the Berkshires. Tiny, 3 beds, loads of people often, and every bit of floor covered in sleeping guests. For many years we had only cold water and had to heat it for washing. Campfires, waterskiing, stargazing, snoozing, and every kind of perfect summer fun. Lakes are wonderful places for relaxing and recharging and yours looks perfect to me! Linda
ReplyDeleteLooks like a magical place, Debbie. You look absolutely darling too.
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolute treasure, Debbie. Although we've never owned a country cabin retreat, we've had friends and other family members who have here in WV. It truly is a place to recharge. Your place and surroundings look like iconic Americana. How fortunate you are that your parents carved out this slice of heaven for you!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a calm and peaceful area...a great place to get away and relax! No photo of Joe's Moosehead??LOL
ReplyDeleteI know this is your little piece of heaven on earth, Debbie. I always love getting a little glimpse of your camp and seeing the beautiful pics. I can just imagine the beauty in the Fall when all those trees are in their glory. xx

ReplyDeleteIt does look like a slice of heaven, Debbie! I have great memories of my parent's lake home in northern Wisconsin. So peaceful and serene (except when all of us piled in together) - LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to see why you head to the camp every chance you get. How wonderful to have such a special retreat for your family to gather together. The view is stunning! Love seeing all these photos.
