If you've been following my blog for a while, you may recall that Mom loved carving pumpkins and she carved at least 125 pumpkins over a ten year period. I previously did a post on her pumpkins explaining that Mom used the "carvable" foam pumpkins and Pumpkin Masters patterns. After she finished carving the pumpkin, she traced around a quarter coin on the bottom back of the pumpkin and cut a hole for the light. The trick or treaters and neighbors looked forward to the display each year. Our local TV station also featured them. After mom passed away, we distributed the pumpkins to family members. Our "pumpkin lady" left us with wonderful pumpkin memories, and Halloween will always be a fun time for our family.

I almost forgot to do a pumpkin post this year. We put six of mom's pumpkins out last week. The neighborhood children came over immediately :-) I love that my brought children so much joy on Halloween.
Our Xavier went on a pumpkin hayride a couple weeks ago, he will be three in March.

ReplyDeleteI want a little Xavier in my life! He is so adorable, Debbie! Your front porch is full of fall goodness. I love it! Wish I were ringing that doorbell for a visit. Always a treat to see your mom's artistic work on the pumpkins. She did an amazing job on each of these. ReplyDeleteI just love your mom's pumpkins! I wish I had been smart enought to do mine in the foam pumpkins. One year someone gave hubby and me ones of our silhouettes, of course they were real pumpkins too. What a lovely thing to have to remember her by.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, these are absolutely amazing!! Your mom certainly knew how to add fun to the neighborhood families' Halloween, didn't she? I'm glad that her family can continue to share her creations every October.
