Spring Blooms #4...Summer is just around the corner

Sunshine + playing with flowers + camera + windows open = Bliss.
Even though we need rain, the garden is thriving and joyful.
Inspecteur Lavergne Peony continues to steal the show, and summer is just around the corner.

It's time to make chive blossom vinegar. I love this stuff.
When I made it last year, I wished I had made more. It was my go to vinegar for my lettuce salads all summer.

Close your jar, and allow to steep in a cool, dark place. After the blossoms steep in the vinegar for one to two weeks, strain and refrigerate. I didn't use a jar with a metal lid, but if you do, place some plastic wrap in between the lid and jar as the acidity of the vinegar may corrode the lid.
Here is the gorgeous pink color after two weeks, strained and ready for gift giving or to keep for yourself like I do.
Blog friends are the very best for enabling...you know who you are. I ordered this "String of Pearls" plant from Etsy, and it arrived in three days. Love Etsy. This will turn into a beautiful plant which I will keep you updated on. It needs time to grow.
Basil is my absolute favorite herb in the garden, and it really thriving and beautiful. Every leaf is perfection.
Look at that lettuce! It is huge! I brought all my veggies home from the CSA farm and washed them last night. My Monday night fun, and I get so excited about making delicious meals. I tried one of the kohlrabi recipes the farm gave us, and I really like it. It's a root vegetable, so you dice it and make a salad dressing for it using sesame oil and cumin. Then you mix it with cooked lentils, and have a nice healthy (different) lunch. My palate enjoys the variety.
This is where you might find me with my laptop. It's a secluded spot in my garden, and about 15 feet away from a bird house that has baby wrens.
It's time to remove the garlic scapes from the garlic plants. Joe gets me to do the craziest things, and he made me a garlic scape bracelet three years ago and took this picture. Either you're a fan or not...I happen to be a lover and have chats about garlic scapes every June.
