As I say every year, summer is flying by. We've been busy, so I have no complaints. In the photo below, my neighbor moved and asked me if I would take her orchids. So it's nice to see them blooming. I was reluctant to take them as I've never had orchids before. I must finally have a grandmotherly touch for plants since the African violet my sister gave me is also blooming.
French tabouleh made with couscous (thanks Monique!) We loved it, and it lasts five days in the refrigerator. Pretty darn tasty for my lunch for work.
As we know, there is no flower that speaks summer more than a sunflower. I picked up the gals (minus one that could not make it), and away we went to the sunflower field. Oh look, there is a "Scoots" sunflower. These women are not only my dear friends, they are my sistas. Truly, forever and ever. We are definitely growing old together. I can feel it in my bones :-)
I hosted a 60th birthday celebration for my brother at our camp in the woods A perfect place to spread out, and the little and big kids always have fun swimming, fishing, blowing bubbles, roasting marshmallows, and some also did some mountain biking. We love getting together, and I wish we could do this every weekend in the summer. But work schedules, etc. get in the way. We do have one more family event planned for the last week in August through Labor Day.
One evening, I decided to make a pair of earrings to wear on my birthday. Paper earrings are popular these days, and I prefer lightweight earrings. I'll share a birthday photo soon :-)Thanks for stopping by to see what's going on in my world. I hope you're having a nice summer.

ReplyDeleteDebbie, you and joe have such a busy fun filled life. Loved the photos, especially the sunflower farm. Looks like a lovely birthday celebration. Very cute earrings.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you'll be able to get your newly acquired orchid to rebloom, Debbie. I use liquid orchid food, you only need a tiny bit and keep them in a east window when they are dormant. I do the same with my African violets and get many reblooms. So glad to see you're having a fun summer and I love the sunflower pic too!
