This and That #10

Sunday, March 6th is National Oreo Cookie day. One of my favorite holidays LOL. Help yourself to a slice of pie. When I spotted Strawberry Whipped Sensation Pie from Kitty's Kozy Kitchen I could not resist especially since it has an oreo cookie crust.  You'll love it and since it is frozen, it will be great for hot summer days.
When we returned from the Botanical Gardens in Naples, FL, I knew I wanted a few orchids to add some color to the house during the winter. In Naples, they served a lovely salad with orchids as you will see in the photo above.

Our local farm is offering "meal baskets" with recipes included. I love a challenge and an assignment. So I accepted the farm's offer to be a beta tester for four weeks. Plus I love the owners of the farm (Suzy and Pete) and would do anything for them. They've been feeding me delicious meat and cheese for over ten years!  The only dish I didn't make was the Chicken Tetrazzini. I pick up my Week 2 basket today, and Suzy gave me my recipes yesterday. Next time I will take a photo of the gorgeous mushrooms for you mushroom lovers.
We recently had Nigella Lawson’s Chicken in a pot with lemon orzo and I promised several friends that I would post the recipe this winning recipe on my blog.

When the news is grim, the best way for me to quiet my thoughts is to turn on the oven and create comfort food. If it’s like that for you, then I think today’s a good day for it.

Honest to goodness, the tomato and roasted red pepper soup from Trader Joe's is so delicious that I will eventually serve it at a dinner party. This is now my favorite soup for lunch with half of a toasted cheese sandwich.
I saw Martha wearing a quilted down puffer vest in a super bowl photo on IG and liked the short sleeves for layering and easy packing so I did a little research. I had no idea that she now sells clothing, and came across this photo of her with her beautiful horses. I got the vest in Mercury.
I found this beautiful Easter cactus at Trader Joe's.

We made it through another winter ❤
The bulbs I planted in the fall are looking happy with sprouts, and my Lenten rose is blooming as it always does during Lenten season.

On a warm day
on the edge of Winter

I offer my praise
to the Sun

Aside the Maple
whose sap is rising

And the Songbirds
sharing their song

  2. Debbie, you look great in your new vest. I have a puffer vest that I've worn for years. Eileen Fisher! It's a perfect for our mild weather. The chicken dish looks delicious and your pink Easter cactus are striking! Happy March!

And we love it with cheese toast or sammy. I think your meal basket challenge will be a lot of fun not to mention delicious! Love your pretty vest, I have several and just love them. 5. Love your vest and the poem. And the Easter cactus, which I already commented on - so pretty in the MC stand (which I also have, so want to try to find those at WM since we don't have TJ). The food and recipes you're using look great. Come on, only half a sandwich with soup?!
