Mothers Day

Sunday is Mother's Day - a time to reflect and show gratitude for all the wonderful women in your life.

I'm so grateful for my grandmother who instilled the love of gardening and flowers in me. I am doing the same with granddaughter Claire who is four. I was the first grandchild and we lived with our grandparents for a brief time while my dad was in the Army and my parents' home was being built. Once dad returned home from Germany, we moved into our new house where I lived my entire childhood with wonderful women (neighbors) that also supported me. I am the oldest of four children. Our mom was cool, and a star athlete! Everyone loved her.

To all the Moms and wonderful women out there, may you continue nurturing!

It has rained every day this week, and will continue until Saturday. Guess what?  A beautiful sunny day is forecasted for Mother's Day :-) Joe and I will be digging holes, filling pots and planting in the garden all day, taking a break only to enjoy a Mother's Day cookout. I will be one dirty mama!

  2. Happy Mother's Day! Digging in the dirt along side Joe is a wonderful way to spend the day. Having been raised by a mom who loved gardening, I relate to your appreciation. I, too, had the wonderful experience of living with my grandmother as well. She came to live with us before I started school. She, too, was a gardener. It's in my genes!

  3. Deb, enjoy getting down and dirty! I just finished my spring chores on Monday, and even though we've had rain (and cool temps!) We're supposed to have 85° on Sunday. We'll celebrate tomorrow with my kids, their husbands and J. My oldest will graduate with her 2nd master's. I think she's finally found her niche! Happy Mother's Day!

  7. Deb, I hope your Mother’s Day was fabulous. Your mother was a beauty. How found you are sharing gardening with your granddaughter Claire. Gardening can be hard work, but so worth it.
