It's almost time to welcome Thanksgiving and Christmas. All living creatures are beginning to bundle up and hunker down.
I have been blogging for many years and realized I haven't shared my apple crisp recipe. It is sure to help comfort, warm and ease you gently into the shorter chillier days. In the photo above, I made two servings, and Joe and I shared it after a hike.
4 cups sliced tart apples (about 4 medium) - I use Northern Spy
2/3 to 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup oats
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/3 cup butter, softened
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Arrange apples in greased square pan, 8x8x2 inches. Mix remaining ingredients and sprinkle over apples.
Bake until topping is golden brown and apples are tender, about 30 minutes. Serve warm and, if desired, with cream or ice cream.
Now something silly....I asked AI why I keep seeing the cute Starbucks cold cup bear every time I log onto social media, and this was the response. "Because of the immense viral sensation and media frenzy". Of course people are fighting over them and putting them on Ebay and the bids are up to $202.50. I do think it's very cute so I decided to play along and used a honey bear. I'll give this as a fun gift to my niece who loves tea and honey, and I added a hat, bell and honey dipper.
Sharing an idea with you in case it sparks some interest. This year we are making a few money wreaths for some of our family members. Joe does the folding, and I add the bow and tag.

ReplyDeleteDeb, I'm a Starbucks regular, but have not seen or heard of these cold cup bears. Perhaps because I only get the same drink every time. Your bear is adorable. I'm a honey fan myself. I use it to sweeten anything I want to add sweetner to, but mostly my cup of hot tea. The money wreath is a cute idea as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea for a money wreath! I never even heart of the Starbucks bear cup since I have a Nespresso machine and can make great coffee at home :) Crazy though how social media has make that cup so famous. Your apple crisp sounds delicious and easy!

ReplyDeleteThe money wreath is cute - this year I purchased boxes with long strips of plastic bags to hold money, then they pull it out of the top of the box - our niece and nephews will have fun with them! I think your apple crisp recipe is same as mine - YUM!
