Three Hour Wait

I'm whizzing around the house getting ready for a little vacation, but I have some loot to show you from the Mackenzie Childs Annual Barn Sale. I had to take pictures quickly because it started to rain. It hasn't rained in weeks!

Let me tell you that it is NOT in my blood to ever wait in line for anything for THREE long hours.....nooooo sirreeee! But I am happy to report that I survived the barn sale. Thinking back, it was fun meeting all the nice shoppers. We chatted for THREE hours so we were practically family at the end ;o) Most of the shoppers I chatted with had flown in from other states.
This was our fourth annual trip to the barn sale, and we have always gone on a Saturday except this year. No lines and no waiting on a Saturday, and I find everything on my list.

Did I have fun?  YES YES YES YES. But that's easy for me to say now that I am sitting in an air conditioned house sipping my tea and eating a brownie. The first group of shoppers to get into the barn sale had been there for 20 hours. Die hards! There were also personal shoppers there. I might consider that when I retire ;o)

On with the loot.....

To welcome you into my home, I fell in love with the Torquay Vase Rug for the entry hall. It has a little bit of the Courtly Check in the pattern which is my thing.

Another view of the rug which includes Mr. Mountain Breaths and Kiki ;o)

Next up is Courtly Check enamelware to add to my collection. Two large serving bowls, cups and saucers, vase, napkin rings and knobs for a dresser I am refinishing.

Herb pots, small colander, soap dish and vase.

Rimmed dishes, Flower Market dinner plates and a tea kettle that is a gift.

The Flower Market enamel dinner plates in the new color "Plum" pair well with my existing Courtly Check chargers.

Glass oh-so-sweet shopping bag!

This next photo is a page from the Mackenzie Childs catalog, and I love the white petunias they used with the Courtly Check. Pure and Simple.

This pretty plant (a Sedum?) was growing in their garden. Does anyone know the name of it?

And last, but certainly not least, is the Courtly Check Pedestal Base. I don't have the glass top on it yet, but it is a great piece that we plan to use every day in our sun porch. With eight windows and two skylights in the room, it is a cheery room to enjoy breakfast and then to relax in the evening. When I entertain outdoors, it can easily be transported to the backyard.

Thank you for stopping by!

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. 3 hours is too long for me to wait in line for are one patient lady, Debbie...
I love the pedestal table...and everything else, too! Can't wait to see a whole tablescape with the Flower Market plates paired up with CC.

  2. 3 hours is a long time to wait but you sure did come home with some fantastic things. I love it all and can't wait to see the glass top on the pedestal for the sunroom. The floral plates look great with the courtly check as well. Just a teensy bit jealous of your beautiful collection :)

    Love the new header photo!

  3. Debbie!

    You are so "Child-ish"!!!!! LOL

You got amazing things and I would say.... it was totally worth a three hour wait to get your table. OMG I am loving that thing!
Can't wait to see it in your sunroom.

  4. Wow, just the phrase "Mackenzie Childs Annual Barn Sale" got my juices flowing! What a fun event -- and sounds like you made out like a bandit! I'm glad your patience was rewarded, and I'll look forward to seeing some of these wonderful items in future tablescapes!

  5. I WANT the table base!!! If it shows up missing, it will be in my kitchen!! Lovely items! You did very well - I am curious, did your husband wait in that line with you (I heard more men bitching at the sale and I thought "then why did you come?")..enjoy your new treasures!

  6. I can see why you would wait in line for 3 hours for anything of the Courtly Check pattern. It is such a fun pattern -- that table pedestal is so amazing! So much fun! Joni

  7. You got some wonderful things, Debbie, and I would say it was worth the wait! Do you think you would have been able to find all of this on Saturday?

Looks like you dropped a tidy sum but you will love these things for years and years.

  8. What great loot you got this year! Beautiful, you did great! I just love the pedestal!
Hey, do they sell that jester outfit, too? LOL!

  9. Three hours...that is a long wait but meeting new people and all of your fabulous finds make it worthwhile.

  10. Great haul, Debbie! You bought big time this year, love it all.
Joe must have loved being one of a few men among all the crazy bargain hunters, LOL!
I love the pic from the catalog too, very pretty!

  11. Debbie, what an amazing cart load of goodies. I've been to the barn and headquarters, but never to the Barn Sale. Someday! How wonderful that you got so many wonderful pieces. I'm seriously in love with your CC table base. I'll be eager to see it set up in your sunroom. ~ sarah
