Strawberry Pie and Flag Day

Help yourself to a slice of pie. When I spotted Strawberry Whipped Sensation Pie from Kitty's Kozy Kitchen I could not resist especially since it has an oreo cookie crust.  You'll love it and since it is frozen, it will be great for hot summer days.

I pulled some red, white and blue photos from my blog to honor the American Flag. In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777.

My Pottery Barn knockoff pillow which was inspired by the American Flag print pillow cover (photo below) seen in the PB catalog few years ago.
I used fabric that I got at Walmart about five years ago, and used my existing outdoor pillows. I  measured, cut and pinned the fabric closed on the backside. No sewing required. I "wrapped" each pillow with the fabric like you would wrap a birthday gift, and secured it with safety pins on the middle fold and the two end folds.

My nephew's wife, her sister and their friends get together for their annual Patriotic Party every year.

I played with the Waterlogue App in my garden one evening.

I tucked in a few flags here and there.

I donated these white wicker chairs to my wonderful friend Paula for her front porch.

Thanks for stopping by! Summer is almost here!

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. So patriotic! The Christmas Tree Shops were filled to the brim w/ great items..we are not as demonstartive here..I love that all of you fly your flags!

  2. That pie - oh my! Love all the photos, especially the water app use.

  3. I'm so glad that you loved the pie, Debbie! It is the perfect summertime dessert. You waterlogue pics are so patriotic and gorgeous! How sweet of you to donate those white wicker chairs to your friend for her front porch. Good friends do that, don't they? Hope you have a great week, my friend. xx

  4. Oh I love your Waterlogue photos! I've got to do that more often, so cool! Love your patriotic tote too Deb!! Save me a piece of pie please :)

  5. Debbie, the pie looks yummy! I love the way you decorated the strawberry with the whipped cream topped with a blueberry. Going to remember that one! I also like the darling horseshoe sandwiches. Adding that idea to my Derby Day files. One of these days I'll have a Derby Day party. Ha! Love that your group has a tradition with the races.
I'm a patriotic girl! We fly our flag daily, and my brother was born on Flag Day. Long May She Wave is my favorite book on flags. I was lucky enough to be in NYC for the 4th of July celebration in 2000. It was an amazing event with the Tall Ships Parade and many other special things across the city. I happened upon an amazing exhibit of a flag collection that was in the AIGA National Design Center. It was titled Stripes & Stars A Graphic History of an American Icon. It happened to be Kit Hinrichs' collection. That was in 2000 and his now famous book was published as a result. I saw that his collection was on tour a few years ago, but not anywhere near me. I'd love to see it again. I have the poster from the exhibit that we had framed and hung in our NY apartment. I like to bring it out for summer holidays. I need to get organized and do a post on this topic again. Thanks for the reminder. '-)

  6. The pie looks yummy! I love playing with the Waterlogue Ap - your pics are so cute! Happy Flag Day!

  7. Love your pillow, Debbie, and all of the red, white and blue photos! The pie looks so cool and delicious on these hot days :)

  8. That pie looks so good! I love your pillow. I have some I have been needing to cover for a few years! You give me inspiration. The Waterlogue App shots are great!!! I need to look into that.

  9. Thanks Mary Ann! I love the US, so I definitely think it would be great for July 4th too. US Flag

I'm so happy you decided to stop by my blog. Please leave a comment as I enjoy hearing from each and every one of you!
