Summery September Autumn

Summer weather has been hanging around, and we are still eating outdoors and enjoying outdoor activities. It could stay like this for another few months and I would be very happy. I've been cooking up a storm using my new Seat At The Table cookbook. The recipes are quick and easy which fits my lifestyle. Throw in a visit with my niece Chelsea at our camp, a charming apple orchard that we happily discovered, a impromptu picnic at the winery, windmills and a drive along the Moose River. That was our Saturday, and a perfect day for a ride. On Sunday I made stuffed cabbage rolls and then pulled out the new Beekman cookbook to make Lemon Garlic Sauce for grilled chicken. And...I just love the new owl mug that I received for my birthday. I feel like I just wrote in my diary. LOL

Dear Autumn, I look forward to making soups in my big pot, cozying up my harvest home and brisk walks around the lake. My mom's lovingly carved pumpkins will soon welcome trick-or-treaters, and the fireplace will offer a glow. And soon we will be talking turkey.  If we could go from Fall to Spring, you would be my favorite season :-)

Hello, I'm Debbie.I enjoy hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains (thus Mountain Breaths). I live in Upstate NY with my supportive husband and have three precious sons..

  1. I think I would like it to cool down a bit, too! It was so HOT on top of Whiteface this past weekend (at 10:30 am) that we were wilting!! I see the Moose River doesn't have any of the brilliance that our foliage usually has - locals are saying it has to do with all the rain. You had me at Lemon Garlic Sauce - I might need that recipe!! Nice to see your traveling totes also enjoying fall!

    1. I just came across a picture of Whiteface Mountain where you were, and the leaves were so brilliant in 2014. I'll send you the recipe, it was wonderful.

  2. Your weekend was much better than mine! I enjoyed seeing your photos of your adventures. Enjoy the warm weather while you can. :D I love eating al fresco and look for excuses to eat outside. LOL You also cooked better than I did over the weekend. Shelley had a horse show/exhibition at her college and it was in the nineties with 100% humidity. I felt sorry for the girls in their breeches and morning suits!

    Have a lovely week!

  3. What a wonderful September you've had, Debbie! There's not one thing on your list that I wouldn't love participating in. We're hoping to take at least a day trip to enjoy fall colors sometime in October. Just a tad later down here for the colors you're enjoying now. Love your mug, and it's fun seeing what you're making from Beekman cookbook.

  4. Loved seeing all your photos of your wonderful times, Debbie! Your meals sound lovely, and I can see that you're enjoying that new cookbook. How nice that you and Joe are having a great time with the summery temperatures. I feel the same about as you, but skipping the summer months, and go straight to fall, winter and spring. xx

  5. My favorite season is autumn, too, but like you I feel it’s the season that follows that’s the bummer! Oh, well...taking the vinegar with the sugar, I suppose! Your pictures are gorgeous and remind me of WHY I love the season so much. The chicken in wine looks good. Heck, I’ll take just about ANYTHING in wine!!’ 🍷🍷🍷 Fall-like weather just arrived here in the Kansas City area today, so I imagine it should reach you in a couple of days. Have fun snuggling up and taking in the autumn sights!

  6. So many delicious dishes and perfect picnic weather. I love using copper for autumn too. Let's hope this gorgeous weather lasts a few more weeks. Beautiful photography..........

  7. oh you have been cooking up a storm Debbie! I am crazy about the pomegranate plates and your tablescape of gold and crimson~ you have been busy packing in some wonderful fall things!

  8. Debbie, the stuffed cabbage looks delicious! We need to make some here. Your fall weather and outings look so inviting. It is still rather warm here, but not unpleasant. Today brought us a nice heavy rain which is much needed. Happy cooking!

I'm so happy you decided to stop by my blog. Please leave a comment as I enjoy hearing from each and every one of you!
