Sweet Potato Casserole

Each Thanksgiving, my niece Beth brings  is REQUIRED to bring our must have sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. For the past 10 years, I have forgotten to blog about it. So here it is, and if you like this type of casserole, it is a winner. My sister won't eat it. LOL

Sweet Potato Casserole

3 c mashed sweet potatoes
1/2 c sugar
1/2 t salt
1/2 t vanilla extract
1/2 stick butter
1/2 t cinnamon
2 eggs
1/2 c milk

Mix together above ingredients and put in casserole dish.

Mix together:

1 c brown sugar
1/2 c flour
1/3 c melted butter
1 c pecans

Crumble on top of sweet potatoes. Bake 350 for 35 minutes.

Note:   Can be doubled and baked in a 9 x 13 pan for one hour.

  2. That is very close to my recipe, but a whole stick of butter and evaporated milk (the Southern way, lol!). We call it heart attack in a pan. 🤣 It's more like dessert!

  3. This recipe is how they make it in New Orleans, but with more butter. In Alabama it's all about the marshmallow topping! This recipe sounds yummy, and I'm pinning it for Christmas because Shanley Belle loves sweet potato casserole and pecans.
