The leaves change in early October in the Adirondack Mountains where my camp is located. We spent the weekend at our camp doing some chores to close up camp over Columbus Day weeekend, and also took some time to kayak and enjoy the fall colors. My favorite photographer from Old Forge took this photo of our lake with his drone. Kurt Gardner has one of the nicest shops in town, and I buy Christmas gifts from him.
I have been making this potato salad all summer, the recipe is from Julia Childs. You boil 8 medium potatoes in salt water, and once cool slice 1'8" thick. Then pour 2 TB chicken broth and 4 TB vermouth over them. Beat together 2 TB wine vinegar, 1 tsp prepared mustard, 1/4 tsp salt, 6 TB EVOO, 1 TB green onions and 2 TB chopped green herbs or parsley.
Winner! (Joe does not like salads with mayo)
Sharing a few photos I snapped this weekend at our camp.
That's me
This photo was taken by our wildlife camera behind our wood shed at camp. Seeing wildlife is very common where our camp is.
Here is Mr. Mountain Breaths enjoying his kayak.
We take our annual fall photo in the same spot every year. The leaves are not quite peak but getting there.
Our favorite place to sit at camp. I've lost count of how many friends and family members have sat around this campfire over the last 40 years. They all love Joe's camp fires.
Look at this beautiful dragonfly hanging out on a tall plant at camp.
On Friday, we attended day one of the first annual artisan craft festival at MacKenzie-Childs. IT WAS AMAZING. The farm was hopping with excitement, and MC was taking photos and we got to meet so many wonderful people. Some folks painted pie plates and mugs, others made pumpkin floral arrangements. I won't bombard you with photos, but wanted to share a few LOL.
Thanks for stopping by!
Deb

ReplyDeleteI wish I could've gone to the M-C Artisan Fair. I can't wait until 2023: I want to travel a whole bunch! Thanks for posting the potato salad recipe. Mr. Bookish doesn't like mayonnaise, either. The leaves are so pretty in your neck of the woods! Just starting to turn a little here.
