A Bouquet Every Day

Have you heard of Blueberry Boy Bait?  I picked blueberries and found this recipe at Smitten Kitchen and we loved it.
The garlic has been harvested, and is drying in the attic. Growing and storing garlic
A few of the herbs have been harvested and left to marinate in the sun for a week. White wine vinegar is great for culinary herbs like dill, basil, tarragon, chervil, and lemon balm.
Now that I am retired, not much goes to waste in the fridge :-) I had a gallon of milk that was near the due date and it makes wonderful ricotta. I used the ricotta to make stuffed shells. How to make ricotta
I recently discovered a feed on Instagram #onebouquetperday, and I've been doing this for years. Little bouquets go on windowsills where I can see them. I have always loved tiny vases, and thought I would share some of the ones that I photographed. The purple poppies are blooming, and the garlic was just harvested..... therefore they became a bouquet of the day.

Our weather has been hot and humid so I've been limiting my time in the garden. Before we know it, it will be August.

  1. Your tiny vases are just darling, Debbie! I love how you grow your own garlic. I’ve made mozzarella, but haven’t tried ricotta, but that would be fun. Thank you for the link to the Blueberry Boy Bait. I’m still going to check in my Smitten Kitchen cookbook that my nephew gave me and see if it’s in there. Happy July!

  2. I love your little blooms. I have two little vases by my sink that have herbs and flowers in them daily ( my Dad always had little blooms in the kitchen table). The blueberry cake sounds delish! patti

  3. Im sure you know I love tiny vases and they sit often on my windowsill too:) Your one with the violets reminds me so much of mine from Provence..A little tip if I may:)LOVE YOUR BASKET. Our garlic is still fresh from last yr..A grower told me to leave it with some dirt..so I do:) And it does last 1 yr.I love pretty white and gift it like that.. and I recently saw someone even CURE his all cleaned..but here it seems a little dirt is a protection.I may totally clean two to cure.

  5. Debbie, your mini vases filled with petite blooms makes me smile. I do the same. Seems there is often a single little bloom easily plucked from the garden. I don't have window sills, but they sit here and there about the house. I've one on a try in the kitchen that is often filled, thought at the moment it is filled with the mini patriotic flag umbrellas one would use on a cupcake. I have another on a side table in the living room, and two more on the mantel within vignettes. Those are filled with petite blooms left over from the 4th of July arrangements. I never toss a good flower. I suspect you don't either. Thanks for sharing this joy! Happy July!

  7. You little bouquets are charming, Deb! It's been hot and humid here also with very little wind and I've suffered from terrible reactions to mosquito bites recently so I, too, have limited my time in the garden, sadly. Today was cooler and there was a nice breeze to deter the pests so I finally was able to do some gardening. Now, if I could just keep the deer from eating my tender daylily buds. I can't believe it's almost August!
