This and That November

Cooking for comfort, I made a carrot cake with vanilla bean cream cheese frosting. We decided that any cake is great with an inch of cream cheese frosting.
This week has been super chilly so I've spent more time in the house than I usually do. I started working on cleaning and 'cozying' since I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner….wish me luck with the cleaning! I think I've spent more time cozying than cleaning.

Mr. Mountain Breaths is a hunter so I cozied up the dining room and used dishes Joe bought 10 years ago.
I served a venison roast that was excellent Venison Sauerbraten recipe. Google helped me nail this one. 5+ star recipe.

I received the cute knitted mushrooms from a "Fruits of the Forest" dinner we attended at our favorite restaurant. The owner's 20 year old daughter made them and pinned them on our napkins.
My friend James is my go to person to identify wild mushrooms in the forest. He worked closely with the owner of the restaurant to put on this incredible dinner. My dad foraged for mushrooms with his friend from Italy when I was younger, and I learned a lot from them.
One of my cozy mushroom pillows for Fall.
Our long fall allowed us to enjoy all our flowers just a little longer! Until this week, the clematis, sunflowers, lilacs and a few other plants were blooming again.
I wish all scaffolding could be this creative Scaffolding at Louis Vuitton in NYC
My sister Diane (and me) in Jamaica in October. It was in the high 80's and we spent most days in the pool to cool off.

I hope this blog post finds you well and looking forward to the upcoming holidays.

I have the fungi novelty pillows too. Like you, I've enjoyed all the seasonal John Derian. Nothing like sister time and you and your sister are lovely. LOL, bet you did spend a lot of time in the pool with temps high always in the Keys. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Deb and Joe..........

  5. Cozying up is much more fun than cleaning, but work must be done. I love those dishes that Joe picked out….perfect for Fall. You and Diane looked like you had a fun time in Jamaica.

  6. I love that you found some of the awesome John Derian pillows! I would have bought the turkey also but we don't host dinner anymore. Now we go to our daughters' homes. ♥ Love Joe's plates. Our property is on a deer trail/crossing so we see them most every day. Great pic of you and your sister and that scaffolding is truly amazing! Happy Thanksgiving, Deb!
