Hello and Welcome April, the birds are migrating, and the garden chores have begun. We took a short break while Mother Nature dropped a dusting of snow. My bunny lamp is watching it snow.

We have grown our garlic for over 10 years. We enjoy it so much! Growing garlic, getting the scapes in the spring. Eating the best garlic. Everyone should do it, if you can.
The garden events in our area are popping up, and I've been helping a local greenhouse transplant seedlings.
I forgot to take a photo but these scones were excellent. Apricot and Ginger Scones. My family and friends enjoyed a Plant and Sip party that I hosted, and we got our seeds planted indoors in anticipation of having vegetables and flowers in our gardens this summer. Our granddaughter Claire and my grand niece Lily are learning about gardening, and Claire's cosmo seeds have already sprouted. She was so excited to see them sprouted. We used the cardboard from inside the paper towel roll to make seed starters that will be planted directly in the garden in May.

Love reading all about your start to gardening, Debra. I love the armmArt and Blooms exhibit. Another friend in MN always shares her town's too. Im hoping last night was our last frost. I covered my peonies and lilac, buds full and buds blooming, respectively. Your seed starting party looked wonderful! Love the use of paper towel tubes for starting.

ReplyDeleteDeb, how special that you are teaching the girls to appreciate and get involved with gardening. Reminds me of being along side my grandmother and my mother out in the garden. I appreciate that they instilled a love of gardening in me from an early age. We had garden plots at the last school where I taught first graders. It was good experience to care for their spring gardens, as simple as it was.
ReplyDeleteI always transplant my amaryllis bulbs into the garden after they bloom, and now they are putting forth new blooms for spring. I cut several and brought them in to enjoy in a vase. The double white is exquisite.
What a happy post, Debbie, and I see you’re teaching future gardeners. Aren’t they cute together?? Your Art in Bloom looked like a wonderful event and and plant and sip was another great time. I always admire how you grow your own garlic and you keep your amaryllis alive!! I’m doing that next year. ❤️

ReplyDeleteHow fun to help transplant seedings at the garden center! We just attended our art museums Art in Bloom two weeks ago! I can't wait to hit the local nurseries at the end of the month. The girls are adorable!
