This and That July

We visited Joe's family in New York City, and walked by this "Stoop" that is decorated by a young family. It has turned into a popular destination for walkers, and they change the theme weekly I think. I  love this one. They can be found on IG stoopandthecity if you would like to see the other decorations.
We've entered salad and grilling season. I walk out the door and pick anything that is edible. Cheesy Potatoes in Onion Rings have been a big hit this summer.
We went blueberry picking with the grandchildren, and our grandson eats  handfuls of the "superfood". I suggested pancakes but he prefers them by the handful :-) Blueberries are loaded with nutrients, and they may help lower blood pressure, improve memory (woo hoo) and more. I made blueberry smoothies (just berries, water and a smidgen of maple syrup) and they are very refreshing on a hot summer day. Then it was time for a swim. Here's grandpa, Quinn, Harper and Claire.

The following day was the 15K Boilermaker Run (hot, hot) and some of our family members ran. Xavier has been a volunteer for two years, and passes out water to the runners.
We've been making bouquets at camp, and added a rock that someone painted and left near our dock.

'Tis the season for zucchini, and we are enjoying Zucchini Chips. I used one zucchini and sliced it into thin 1/8" circles and lined up the slices on parchment paper. Sprinkled with garlic salt and parmesan. I baked them in my toaster oven at 425 degrees for approximately 15 minutes.
And it's blueberry muffin time Blueberry muffins

That's all my heat fried brain can muster.
Enjoy the sun!

  6. Ahhh, summertime! On your edibles plate - do you eat daylilies? All the foods look wonderful. Seeing that stoop in NYC makes me wonder - do they ever have things stolen? I love decorating my outdoors but have actually had sunglasses taken from my book reader!

  7. That stoop in NYC is amazing! At first I thought it was your home with the MC decor :) What a great time you're having with the family and at camp, Debbie. It seems summer is flying by so quickly (and hotly). It's hard to believe we're over half way through July already. Enjoy! ♥
