The odds are always against us here in Central New York with the weather.
Our climate is typically wet/snowy because we live near Lake Ontario. Of course, some years will be worse than others. That's also to be expected when dealing with weather patterns! Despite all that, we typically have a lovely summer.
I love what's happening now in the garden, so I took photos. Thankfully my garden is doing great despite our wet climate this year.
Before I continue I want to wish my dear daddy a Happy Heavenly Father's Day. I was the first child of four, so of course I was his princess :-)
The roses are perfection right now, I know that can change in a NY minute..
Nasturtiums I started from seed.
We are picking garlic scapes this week.
Columbines are one of my favorite spring flowers that usually bloom twice.
I have three different peony bushes, and they are all doing great this year.
A tradition at camp is to make a bouquet. We leave the snowflake lights up all year. LOL
Sharing a few photos from Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. In Yellowstone, geology is boss. Yellowstone became the world’s first national park because of the volcanic geology.
The bison are very shaggy in June as they are working on their summer bod :-) Can you see the birds on the back of the bison who is helping to remove the shaggy fur?
I was captivated by the park in general but mesmerized by the wildlife that we got to encounter. I absolutely fell in love with the bison. We kept our distance and used a telephoto lense.
A great place to visit!

Deb, I think your garden must be very happy given its lovely production of beautiful flowers. The rose is such a lovely color and peonies are my favorites, exquisite! Your dad is very handsome and I know how much you must miss him. Hope you and Joe have a wonderful summer......

ReplyDeleteDeb, seeing your beautiful blooms makes me happy. You and Joe are excellent gardeners. I also delighted in the photos from your trip to Yellowstone. As a child, we spent many a summer vacation in the Colorado mountains and then up in Yellowstone. We stayed in cabins along the streams in the park. We could hear and see bears rummaging around the camp at night. Wildlife would come up to our cars as we traveled the roads. It was a different time and place in my memory. The wonders of childhood!

I love strawberry season which is just starting here. Your garden looks wonderful, Debbie! It's been such a cool spring for us this year. Lots of cool, Lake Michigan, breezes from the east and north which still persist. Your father looks so perfectly 1950's handsome in that photo! ♥
ReplyDeleteDebbie, your garden particularly draws me in. You've had a lot of rain, as have many of us, but I really think it's given the blessing of beautiful blooms! It would be nice to be able to outside more with them, but bringing g them inside is delightful (just shake off the ants!). I love all your whimsical touches in the garden, and your new fence is a terrific backdrop to the blooms. Those are HUGE strawberries, and Yellowstone is definitely a place to put on one's bucket list. I love the photo of the birds on the bison's back.Nature is so very fascinating.
