Let me preface this by saying I am not at Wegman's filling up my grocery cart. In April, we went to MacKenzie-Childs first ever warehouse sale and stocked up with gifts and a few items for our home.
The MacKenzie-Childs barn sale in Upstate New York is fast approaching and is an event that I LOVE to attend. I told Joe I only have a few items on my wish list. Once we get to the sale, he will do what he does every barn sale. He takes off on me and starts loading up HIS cart. It's comical to see him that excited, and then he comes looking for me to show me the loot. He takes me to a corner, reviews each item with me (ugh) and I tell him to return about 95% of the items back to their shelves. All this while I am sweating from the heat in the tent. LOL
The 65 acre farm in Aurora is lovely and people camp the week of the sale. They can visit the studio, retail store and farmhouse that offers daily tours. It's an annual 4-day super shopping event for the luxury home & decor brand. Items at the sale are at least 50% off and up to 80% off. Some items get marked down even more on Sunday.
There is a large barn on the property, and during the sale it's filled with MKC enamelware. There are also tents with ceramics, furniture, glassware, rugs, holiday and more.

I love this fun ceramic flower pot from one of the barn sales. In the Wallcourt pattern. Did you know that the Mackenzie-Childs story began in a humble studio run out of the basement of a Wells College dorm named Wallcourt? The days of Richard and Victoria.
The barn sale is July 20-23, 2017 in Aurora, New York.

I can't imagine having all those pretties within reach at sale prices, I would surely faint!! I would also buy way too much!! You are so lucky Joe is such a willing shopper! Good luck and have fun!

Jenna, I always make a list and try to stick to it. I do stray a bit, but try to keep within a budget. It's very tempting to splurge.
DeleteDeb, you look like a MC model advertising the sale! I suppose it is a good thing I can't go, my cart would be filled. I know it is a lot of fun and your Joe sounds like he enjoys the shopping trip as much as you! Can't wait to see what you buy.........
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet Emily :-) Sometimes we have two carts full, but this year I don't have a very long list. I bought a lot of gifts at the warehouse sale, so we might be down to one cart this year. Hope you can join me some day.

ReplyDeleteI love the fact that Joe is just as excited as you. The chef would be the same if we lived closer and if we had more storage. He indulges me with my love of MacKenzie-Childs, but he wouldn't be camping out or waiting in long lines. ;-)

Sarah, how I would love a basket of CC ceramics! I'm still working on finalizing my list and it's pretty short this year. I hope they have some Taylor pieces with minor imperfections. I'd like a couple platters for sure.

I do love those dishes, with the gold edge. I love so many of their gorgeous pieces. How special to live so close. I am excited! I wish I could swoop in...

2. Do people usually all sleep in tents? Is it possible to sleep in the car?
3. Any recommendations on what we should bring?
4. Do you camp in line? Or like camp somewhere and then everyone starts getting in line super early?

Hi Brittany! I've never camped out at the barn sale. Instead I arrive by 7:00 am and usually wait in line for a couple hours on Saturday morning. Have fun!
