Happy New Year! At this time the radar is looking quiet after 4 days of lake effect snow. In the photo above, this was what it looked like when the lake effect snow had just started in our area. This is one of my favorite areas and it overlooks our city. One of local ski areas received 76" of snow! The snow lovers are welcoming it after a few years of just having minimal snow. Perfect kickoff to winter 2025.
Our camp looks so cozy decked out in white. So many of us agree that the Adirondacks is one of America's most beautiful parks in the USA. Our little cabin is our special place, and so quiet in the winter.
I'm starting to make sour dough bread again after taking a two year break.
I started the first stage, which is called the Seed Culture. Once the Seed Culture is developed and turned into a Barm (a sourdough base), you can keep this in your fridge or freezer indefinitely and use it whenever you like.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday. I put the decorations away, and put the 25 year old tree to the curb as I'm getting a new one for next Christmas. It served us well, and was gorgeous. But the needles started falling off and some of the lights didn't work. A nice guy picked it up from the curb, and asked Joe if it still worked. The man and Joe were happy campers.
Off to buy a new mattress for our bed :-) I've never had a mattress with a remote.

Our mattress is now 8 years old, supposedly a 10 yr life. It was our first with a remote, and I really love being able to make adjustments for my back. It made all the difference in the world for me!

Oh Deb, these are stunning photos of your favorite place, I see why too! I wish we had found our way there while we were in travel mode all those years but now I can enjoy hearing your stories and visiting your little cabin in the mountains.......Have fun with the sour dough starter. I’m still making my sourdough, Debbie, and just ate a toasted slice of it with my breakfast. Enjoy your new mattress. Rich and I bought an adjustable one before he passed and I’m sitting upright in it right now. You’ll love it! Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo of your cottage, Deb! A framer for sure. Can't wait to see how the sourdough works out. I can leave my starter from Kitty in the frig for several weeks, neglected, and it still comes back strong after a feeding.

ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying sourdough baking too. My sourdough starter was gifted to me and it's been a joy to zen out in my kitchen and bake sourdough bread.

Such beautiful winter photos. That's a lot of snow and it looks like a winter wonderland scene. You are so lucky to have your cottage. The sourdough bread will be amazing once made. We love our mattress with separate controls. Wishing you a wonderful new year ahead.
